Jean-Sébastien Beaulne is a PhD student at the Environmental Microbial Genomics group in the Ecole Central De Lyon (Université de Lyon). He earned a B.S.  in Biogeography and Geology in 2004 and a Masters degree in Environmental Sciences in 2008, both from the Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada. His Masters thesis focused on modeling mercury concentrations in northern pikes and walleyes from frequently fished lakes of Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Québec, Canada) using a GIS approach. Recently, he worked 3 years as a research engineer for the CARA Mercury Science Program (modeling Hg in fish, soils and sediment) and 3 months at the Environmental Microbial Genomics Group (spatial diversity of soil bacteria)Currently, as part of the Trainbiodiverse FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network, he is working on the spatial distribution and diversity of perturbed soil bacteria from the micro- to the macro-scale.
