Research Interests

My research interests lie in the transfer of metallic contaminants and nutrients in the soil to plants and their effects on microorganisms and plants. I am passionate about discovering the associations and interactions between plant roots and fungi, particularly mycorrhizal symbioses. My PhD project focused on the mobility and transfer of a group of widely used metallic elements,  rare earth elements, from soil to plants by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. My current work involves investigating arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and their interactions in the nitrogen cycle (see project FUNCTION).
